The posts in this blog focus primarily upon specifications of earth moving equipment used in high pressure gas pipeline construction and the parts / spares compulsory keeping these machines in true functioning order which are subjected to severest bashing of the elements including work in environmental extremes of temperature ranging from 0° to 52° Celsius, extreme slopes crossing the psychological threshold of 35°, service in muddy, marshy, water logged areas, deserts and salt plains.

A tribute to Daewoo / Doosan Hydraulic Track Type Excavators, Solar 220LC-V

Daewoo Corporation of South Korea now hailed as Doosan Infracore is becoming a novel might in digging trade after completing a thriving decade of excavator business. I have never been a big admirer of non Caterpillar equipment but this creation of Doosan literally changed my perception about Korean Machines, particularly excavators. Before having used Hyundai and Daewoo brand excavators I used to take Koreans of capable of making good cellular devices alone which too offered more value for the amount of compensation paid.

Anyhow, the immense reality about Daewoo / Doosan Excavators is that you can get almost three of these in the price of a single equivalent Caterpillar or Komatsu brand excavator and those three won't even give you a real single headache till completion of 7000 or more work hours, rest assured. On completion of 7000 work hours this machines may only require a top overhaul of its engine to keep it in top running condition only if the routine maintenance procedures were bypassed or not that strict during the aforementioned period.

I have been up keeping 04 Daewoo DH220LC, 04 Daewoo DH200W, 16 Daewoo Solar 220LC-V, 08 Doosan Solar 220LC-V, 08 Doosan Solar 225LC-V, 02 Doosan 140LC-V Hydraulic Track and Wheel Type excavators in the recent years. 02 Doosan Solar 300LC-V and 01 Doosan DH200W hydraulic excavators are one of the latest additions to my belongings, sort of. During this period these excavators were subjected to severest bashing of the elements which included frequent 10-12 kms of crawling in single stretch, work in environmental extremes of temperature ranging from 0° to 52° Celsius, extreme slopes crossing the psychological threshold of 35° in Darra Adam Khel, service in muddy, marshy, water logged areas of Upper Sindh, deserts of Southern Punjab and salt lands of Khewra, Haranpur and Shakardara. Undercarriages, Hydraulic Components and Engines of these machines have really stood against all the elements declared above.

It is only recently that I came across an opportunity to supervise a complete overhaul of some of these smart digging machines. The list of spares required for carrying out such an exercise will soon be declared which to my knowledge is quite extensive as it marks out the Engine, Hydraulic System, Undercarriage and Electrical System of the pointed out smart diggers.
